The Geography Programme, School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU under the banner of G-20 organized the webinar on Prospects of Clean and Green Energy in India in hybrid mode on 21st March 2023.  The objective of the webinar was to throw light on multilateral forums like G-20 and their role in bolstering global collective action against climate change and achieve the UN 2030Agenda focusing in Sustainable Development Goal 13 – Climate Change. Dr. Nitish Priyadarshi, Assistant Professor Department of Geology and Environment, Ranchi University, Ranchi was invited as the Resource Person. The webinar was graced by Senior Functionaries of KISS-DU, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar, Professor Gopal Krishna Panda, Professor Emeritus, Professor Jagannath Lenka, Professor Emeritus, Deans of different Schools, Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Students of KISS- DU.

In his presidential address, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor talked about the importance and relevance of climate change in the present scenario. Clean and green energy is the need of an hour. KISS is very good example of Green Energy since 2015, like solar water heater system, rain water harvesting, water recycle and reuse by STP, ground water recharge through rooftop rain water, CO2 reduction by steam cooking, bio-gas and solar PV system.

Dr. Nitish Priyadarshi highlighted on the occasion of World Forestry Day about the alternative energy like Geo-Thermal Energy, Solar Energy, Hydropower, Bio Energy and Net zero emission by 2030 in global context and India as well. He stressed on the fact that if we save ourselves, we could save our environment with the use of different techniques and methods. Professor Jagannath Lenka and Professor Gopal Krishna Panda also spoke on the occasion. The lecture was followed by a question-and-answer session wherein the students interacted with the esteemed speaker.

The concluding remarks and Vote of Thanks was presented by Prof. R.N. Swain, Professor in Commerce, KISS-DU.
