The PG students of the Geography Department, School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU, participated in a four-day Practical Learning Session held at the Civil Engineering Department Lab, KIIT Deemed to be from 3rd to 6th December 2024. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Monalisha Mishra and Mrs. Saurava Goswami from KISS, with the support from Dr. Deepak Kumar Bera (Dean) and Mr. B.K. Dora of KIIT-DU. The objective of the session was to build the capacity of the students in various aspects and impart hands-on training.

The session provided hands-on training in survey techniques using instruments such as the Chain Survey, Compass, Theodolite, Levelling, and Auto-levelling. Students engaged enthusiastically, asking insightful questions and demonstrating a strong curiosity to learn the instruments and its applications. The program seamlessly blended theoretical knowledge delivered by KISS faculty with practical demonstrations facilitated by faculty from KIIT-DU, with active collaboration from KIIT Civil Engineering students.

This interdisciplinary approach not only enriched the students’ understanding of survey methodologies but also enhanced their technical proficiency. It provided them with essential skills for field-based geographic research and prepared them for future professional roles in surveying and Geospatial Studies.
