In order to promote Higher Studies and Research on the life and works of Santha Kabi Bhimabhoi, Santha Kabi Bhimbhoi Chair and Research Centre was inaugurated at KISS Premises on 30th April 2018.
Gracing the occasion, as Chief Guest, Hon’ble Minister for SC/ST Development, Minorities & Backward Class Welfare, Govt. of Odisha, Shri Ramesh Majhi said, “institutionalizing Research Center at KISS is a befitting tribute to Bhimabhoi. For this purpose, KISS is the appropriate place as Bhimabhoi often used to think for the development of underprivileged sections of the society, exactly what KISS has been carrying out.”
Throwing light on the life and philosophies of Bhimabhoi, Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS said that Bhimabhoi was an avid campaigner for the wholesome development of the downtrodden communities. Following the principles of Bhimabhoi, KISS has been working for the development of disadvantaged peoples of the society for the last 25 years.
Prof. Harekrishna Satapathy, VC, KISS Deemed University said that Bhimabhoi was travelling across the regions propagating holistic education in order to bring social reforms. Moreover, he was emphasizing a value-based education system. To conduct higher studies and research on the unknown facets of his life, philosophy and actions, Santha Kabi Bhimabhoi Chair and Research Center was set up at KISS, added Prof. Satapathy.
Among the dignitaries, Sri R. N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT& KISS; Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, VC, KIIT Deemed University and Dr P.K. Routray, CEO, KISS were present and discussed on the life and works of Bhimabhoi. Meanwhile, a statue of Santha Kabi was unveiled by the Chief Guest on KISS premises.
