NSS Bureau, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Deemed to be University, organised a programme at 3.00 P.M. on Jan 12, 2023, in the Conference Hall-2, KISS-DU, to observe National Youth Day. On this auspicious occasion, 50 volunteers, 5 Programme Officers, ten faculties of KISS DU and, 32 PG students & 3 Faculties of Mizoram University were present in the programme. Prof. Rabindra Ku. Mohanty, Professor and Head, Department of Sociology, Mizoram University, graced the occasion as Chief Speaker, and Prof. Brahmananda Satapathy, Professor Emeritus, KISS DU, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.

The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the Guests. Dr. Krupasindhu Nayak, Asst. Professor and Head of Sociology Programme, KISS-DU, gave the welcome address.

Addressing the volunteers on the occasion, Prof. Rabindra Ku. Mohanty, Professor and Head, Department of Sociology, Mizoram University, motivated the volunteers and students to teach the thoughts and ideas of Swami Vivekananda in day-to-day life.

Prof. Brahmananda Satapathy, Professor Emeritus, KISS DU, addressed the gathering with the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. He gave the example of Dr Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, who has propelled the mission of education in Odisha from soil to silver in the last 25 years and is an inspiration for millions of youths.

Faculties and youth volunteers from Mizoram University also shared their experiences regarding KISS as a model of empowering youths through education.

On this occasion, all the participants also virtually witnessed the inaugural ceremony of the National Youth Festival and listened to the inaugural address of the Honourable Prime Minister of India.

Mrs. Saismita Swain, NSS Programme Officer, KISS-DU, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Deepak Ku Ojha, Assistant Professor, KISS-DU, moderated the programme.
