A ‘National Orientation on Career Building and Quality Education Among Tribal Scholars’ was organized by National Tribal Research Institute, New Delhi and Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) in collaboration with Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar on 4 th November 2022. The National Orientation on Career Building and quality Education among Tribal Scholars is an initiative of the National Tribal Research Institute that aims at imparting the right skills required for tribal scholars to choose a career in the Civil Services. It helps the tribal scholars discover themselves by exploring their innate potential. The program is all about facilitating the tribal scholars to know their core strengths that will help them approach challenges of life in a skilled way.
The webinar was organized by the School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights (STLS), KISS-DU with the objective to encourage the tribal scholars to take up civil services as the
career and help the students to understand the process of the preparation and to overview of the huge syllabus of the CSE and delve deep into its intricacies, facilitate and give proper directions to the scholars. The programme received an overwhelming response from over 200 Research Scholars, Post Graduate students and faculty members.
Dr. Nupur Tiwary Special Director, National Tribal Research Institute spoke at the Inaugural Session and delivered the Welcome Address. Shri. S.N Tripathi shared his knowledge and valuable inputs regarding the need for orientation to the tribal students on Civil Service Examinations. He appreciated the excellent initiatives done by KIIT and KISS. He also advised the students to focus both on their Ph.D. work as well as preparation for Civil Service Exam. He also suggested to record 5 to 10 mints video on the topic covered under Civil Service Exam and the NTRI will reflect the same in the website tagging the Institution and Resource Person for better dissemination. The Project named as ‘SAMBHAV’ meaning (Anything is possible), inspires the students to make relentless efforts for qualifying IAS Exam.
Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, KISS-DU spoke at length about the Training and Placement Cell of KISS-DU and said that over 900 students are receiving benefits from the IAS coaching at KISS-DU premises. He also proposed to open a Training Centre in collaboration with National Tribal Research Centre which will aim at giving coaching to tribal students pertaining to Civil Services.
The Inaugural Session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Pragyan Mohanty Associate Professor and Dean, School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights KISS-DU. Speaking at the Technical Session, Professor Ashok Vishandass, Professor, IIPA, gave a lecture on “Exposure about of Civil Service” on the theme ‘SAMBHAV’. He elaborate on the objectives of CSE Exam, components of the exam , key features, the demands of CSE, approach and strategy for CSE exam, and CSAT screening test. he presented two videos on interaction with the
civil servants to motivate the students. Professor Ashok’s talk was followed by Question and Answer Session.
Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, shared his feedback, suggesting NTRI to organize more such workshops to hone and develop the teaching aspirations of the teachers taking OPSE classes and to upload on to the website success stories of tribal IAS officers to inspire the students. Following his feedback, Dr. Kanhu Charan Mahali (IPS Retd.) Director General, KISS-DU gave his inputs regarding Civil Service going on at KISS-DU. Some of the faculty members and research scholars also shared their view regarding the programme.
Addressing at the Valedictory Session Shri. S N Tripathi, Director General, IIPA urged for making videos on CSE and the NTRI shall upload the same on to the website for documentation purposes. He stressed on the fact that self-introspection is required for success in IAS examinations. The programme concluded with a joint Vote of Thanks by Dr. Nupur Tiwary, Special Director, NTRI and Dr. Pragyan Mohanty Associate Professor and Dean, School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights KISS DU.
