The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), KISS-DU organized an international Distinguished Invited Lecture on 28th February 2025. The event was graced by H.E Dr. Erik Solheim, Former Norwegian Minister of Environment and International Development and Former Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme and Mr. Satya S. Tripathi, Hon’ble Chancellor, KISS-DU.
H.E Dr. Erik Solheim captivated the audience with his insightful deliberation on India’s potential contributions to the world. He emphasized the Indian focus on the harmonious relationship between man and nature, the importance of strong political leadership to merge economy with ecology, and the vital shift from fossil fuels to solar energy. Additionally, he highlighted the need for science and technology advancements, particularly in AI and green technology, and initiatives to protect and preserve nature. Dr. Solheim passionately advocated for matching modernity with tradition, adopting a circular economy, and fostering a positive mindset through lifestyle changes.
Mr. Satya S. Tripathi, Hon’ble Chancellor, KISS-DU, also addressed the gathering, reflecting on Dr. Solheim’s impactful tenure as the Under Secretary-General of the United Nations and his result-oriented approach to diplomacy. He commended KISS’s role in providing education and concluded with a thought-provoking quote from Alvin Toffler about the necessity of unlearning and relearning.
Dr. Disha Bhatt, Deputy Director, IQAC welcomed the esteemed guests, Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Dean, School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures and Director HRDC introduced the esteemed speaker and Dr. Pragyan Mohanty, Dean, School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights proposed formal Vote of Thanks.
