A delegation from IIM Visakhapatnam visited KISS and KIIT Deemed to be Universities on 25th April 2022 to understand and appreciate the service operation management of the environment-friendly system adopted by KISS-DU.
The delegation, consisting of the MBA (PGPEx) students led by Professor PRS Sarma and Professor Alok Kumar, was overwhelmed to see the mega-kitchen of KISS that prepares food for about 30,000 students everyday through a biogas plant, steam-based cooking system, solar heating system, and rainwater conservation system. It also visited the other vast facilities of KIIT & KISS and appreciated the innovative practices adopted.
Speaking at an interactive meeting with the delegates, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, VC, KISS-DU informed about the seven innovative Schools at KISS, apart from mainstream education. “Developing the entrepreneurial skills of tribal youths through a social business incubator is considered as one of the thrust areas at KISS-DU,” he stated. Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar elaborated on all the initiatives taken by KISS to empower the tribal communities through education. Mr. W. Easwar, Chief Finance Officer & HR Head also interacted with the visiting delegates.
Members of the delegation were touched by the magnitude of work undertaken by KISS and the compassionate support of KIIT. Sharing his experience, Biplab Patnaik, an IIM Visakhapatnam student from Odisha, said that he was never so proud of being an Odia enough before visiting KIIT and KISS. The two sister institutions are contributing meaningfully toward Sustainable Development Goals, remarked Prof. Kumar. Eulogizing the commitment of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS toward his goal of fulfilling the aspiration of millions, Prof. Sarma said, Dr. Samanta has started a movement and has the willingness and blessings of God.
