The Department of Odia and the Department of English, part of the School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures at KISS Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, came together to observe World Poetry Day on 21st March 2025. Through engaging discussions and creative expressions, the event celebrated the profound essence of poetry and its role in promoting cultural and linguistic diversity.

The seminar began at 11:00 AM with a welcome address from Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Associate Professor and Dean of the School, who eloquently emphasized the vital contribution of poetry to preserving linguistic heritage and inspiring creativity among students. Following this, Dr. Rasmita Tripathy, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Odia, provided an insightful overview of the importance of World Poetry Day, noting how poetry connects cultures and transcends generations.

The segment featured dynamic presentations from Post Graduate students and Ph.D. scholars, who explored themes such as the evolution of poetry, its societal impact, and its significance in tribal literature. These discussions reflected both deep research and critical thought, enriching the academic dialogue and fostering a better understanding of the poetic form. Adding another dimension to the day, the Department of English engaged in a poetic tribute to celebrate the power of words and expression. PG students crafted a collaborative poem that beautifully captured the essence of KISS University—a sanctuary of learning, hope, and boundless dreams. Their verses resonated with gratitude, pride, and optimism, acknowledging KISS as an institution that nurtures self-respect, discipline, and integrity among its students.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Darpadalana Rath, Assistant Professor in the Department of Odia, who expressed sincere gratitude to the speakers, faculty, and students for their enthusiastic participation. The seamless execution of the event was skillfully coordinated by Dr. Nibedita Mohanty, Associate Professor in the same department. Overall, the seminar was a resounding success, leaving participants with a renewed appreciation of poetry and its cultural relevance.
