The Post Graduate Programme of Geography with specialisation in Tribal Resource Management, School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU observed World Environment Day on 6th June 2022. Professor B.W. Pandey, Professor in Geography, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi was invited as the distinguished speaker. Senior Functionaries, Professor Emeriti, Research Chair Professors, Faculty, Research Scholars and Students attended the event.

At the outset, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KISS Deemed to be University delivered the Welcome Address. He highlighted the genesis of World Environment Day and its relevance in the tribal community. He said that they are the real protectors and preservers of the environment. Following the Welcome Address, the second issue of the magazine ‘Geozen’ was unveiled by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor.

Professor B.W. Pandey, outlined the need of environment its preservation and protection role of human beings in the development of ecological restoration, balance, importance of afforestation and its spread across the country. Professor Dr. Gopal Krishna Panda, Professor Emeritus, KISS-DU stated that young mass are the real ambassadors who can play a vital role in bringing change in the environment.

Some of the faculty, students also spoke on the occasion. The programme witnessed once act play endeavouring to create awareness of issues pertaining to environment. Dr. Disha Bhatt, Assistant Professor, KISS-DU proposed a Vote of Thanks on the occasion.
