The Sociology Programme, School of Tribal Legal Rights and Tribal Legal Studies (SCTLS&TLR) observed the International Day of Peace on 21st September 2023. It is observed globally to promote peace and unity worldwide. This year’s theme was Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the Global Goals.
Dr. Pragyan Mohanty, Dean, SCTR&TLS spoke about establishing peace through cooperation and understanding each other problems. Ms. Maitree Padhi, Faculty Sociology Programme initiated an oath taking ceremony for peace and harmony in society. Her speech was followed by deliberations by the students who drove a very moot point that there is a call for action which recognizes our individual and collective responsibility to foster peace. Fostering peace contributes to realising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and achieving the Agenda 2030 of the United Nations.
Dr Krupasindhu Nayak, Head of the Sociology Programme, proposed a formal Vote of Thanks. He also highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of peace, tolerance, and dialogue within the academic community and students at KISS-DU.
