The NSS Unit, School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights, KISS Deemed to be University, observed the International Day of Peace on 21st September 2026 with the inspiring theme, “Let Us Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.”
The programme highlighted the importance of peace not merely as the absence of conflict, but as a shared responsibility rooted in empathy, respect, tolerance, equality and mutual understanding. Through an engaging discussion, students reflected on how small acts of kindness, responsible communication and respect for diversity can contribute to creating a peaceful society.
The interaction encouraged the students to understand that peace begins with each individual. It is built through our words, attitudes and everyday actions—at home, in the classroom, in the community and beyond. The students were motivated to become ambassadors of peace and to promote harmony.
Following the discussion, a Peace Pledge was administered by Dr. Maitree Padhi, Programme Officer, NSS, wherein the students pledged to uphold peace, respect others, reject hatred and violence, and contribute towards building a more inclusive and harmonious society.
The observance conveyed a meaningful message: peace is not something we simply wish for; it is something we must consciously invest in every day. When young minds choose empathy over hatred, dialogue over conflict and unity over division, they become powerful builders of a peaceful future.
The programme concluded with a commitment among the students to carry the message of “Peace for Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day” into their lives and communities. This event reflected on Sustainable Development Goal 16 – Peace Justice and Strong Institutions.
