The NSS Bureau of KISS-DU organized a Self Defence Training Programme for NSS Volunteers (Girls) on 15th May 2022. The training programme was conducted by Mr. Kalandi Murmu, Senior Judo Coach and it received overwhelming response from over 124 participants.

The objectives behind organizing this training programme were to provide knowledge about the different tips of self-protection to volunteers and demonstration on different self-defence techniques.

Speaking at the Inaugural Session, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor highlighted the importance of self-defence training. He said that having knowledge about self defence techniques not only helps to defend oneself but it also it enhances self-confidence.The Vice Chancellor motivated the volunteers to be self-confident and self-reliant. Mr. Rudra K Jena Deputy Director Sports, Dr. Amulya Ratna Nanda, Programme Coordinator, Programme Officers,Red Cross Counselor and Dr. Kamal  Prasad Mohanty, Assistant Programme Coordinator  were also present.

At the demonstration session, the trainer and his team demonstrated different types of moves and actions such as backward moves. All the volunteers  gathered a lot of practical knowledge about one’s own defence in times of crisis. He shared certain tips so that they can use these tips  to protect themselves.The volunteers attended the programme with great enthusiasm.
