School of Comparative Indigenous Studies and Tribal Science (CISTS) & Centre for the Product Development of Underutilized Wild Edible Plants, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed University, Bhubaneswar, collaboratively observe the WORLD FOOD SAFETY DAY on 7th June 2025 with a vibrant program that brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests to reflect on “Enabling Sustainable Food Systems”. The celebration was graced by Dr. Vimal Kumar Pandey, Dean of CISTS, who attended as the chief guest for the occasion along the three faculties of the department.
In his address, Dr. Vimal Kumar Pandey stressed the significance of World Food Safety Day in raising awareness about hunger, malnutrition, Food Waste and sustainable food production. He encouraged students to become agents of change in addressing food security challenges facing India and the world.
The highlight of the day was a stimulating poster competition centered on the crucial topic of food safety, healthy food and food waste. The programme was focused on recent trends in food science and technology, inspiring students to pursue innovation and research in creating safer, more nutritious, and sustainable food systems.
