On 12th February 2024, a One-day workshop was organized on “BUILDING BRIDGES, BREAKING BARRIERS: BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO“. It was jointly organized by Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University, sponsored by ICSSR under STERP.

The main objective of the workshop was to disseminate the information and ideas which were jointly conceived by the Project Directors – Dr. Ch. Sudipta K Nanda, Dr. Binita Nanda, Dr. Anita Pareek, and Project Co-ordinator Dr. Arya Kumar (KIIT), along with their Research Staff during the survey and deliberate the findings of the said short term empirical project, topic entitled, “ Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” (B3P): An Empowerment Model to Curb Female Foeticide and Misogyny in Tribal Odisha”. The event was graced with the presence the invited guests Professor Ashok Kumar Das, Vice Chairman, Odisha State Higher Education Council, Bhubaneswar; Dr. Prasanna Patra, Professor of Anthropology, Utkal University; Prof. Jayanta Kumar Parida, Director, School of Social Financial and Human Sciences, KIIT Deemed to be University, and Professor Kishor Kumar Basa, Chairman, National Monuments Authority.

The guest speakers shared their insights with the Project Co-ordinator and Directors to be added in the project, and discussed about the importance of educating a girl child for the betterment of not only the family but also the nation keeping in mind today’s fast paced lifestyle.
