A webinar on ‘Indigenous Youths in Institution of Higher Learning: Their Wellness, Health, and Life Skill Education’ was inaugurated at the School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology (THTI), KISS-DU on 17th May 2022 in a blended mode. The three-day webinar is organized by Home Science, Psychology, and Education Programmes under the School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology (THTI).

Speaking at the webinar, Professor Vishala Patnam, Former Principal & Human Development Expert, CAD Consulting Maharashtra, described the journey of a human being from childhood to adulthood and the well-being of the youth. KASH (K – knowledge, Technical know-how; A – ability, ambition, assessment, action, analytical, adaption; S – simple, sophisticated, sensible, smart in solving problems and H – health, honesty, hard work, harmonious and harmless) is more important than the CASH (Money), she stated. Discussing the importance of health among indigenous youth, she highlighted the impact of the value and attitude of each individual on health.

Earlier, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU delivered the welcome address and Dr. Sujata Acharya, Principal, KISS and Director, KISS Wellness Centre, KISS-DU introduced the distinguished speaker. Professor Namita Mohanty, Professor Emerita, KISS-DU summed up the session. The talk was followed by a question-answer session conducted by Mrs. Manasi Chandra Nayak, Faculty of Home Science Programme, KISS-DU.

Among others, Dr. Kanhu Charan Mahali, Director General, KISS-DU; Professor Jugal Kishore Mishra, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell; the Research Chair Professors and Professor Emeriti attended the webinar. Mrs Saswati Jena, Faculty Education Programme moderated the session, while Dr. Swapnashri Patnaik, Head of the Home Science Programme, KISS-DU proposed a vote of thanks.
