The Central Alumni Association of KISS-DU organized Competitions for various Extra-Curricular Activities relating to tribal cultural events, such as 1) Tribal Songs, 2) Tribal Arts and Paintings, and 3) Elocution Competition in Tribal Languages on the Tribal Freedom Fighters, from 29th March 2022 to 31st March 2022 at the Amphitheatre of KISS-DU.

Mr. Dula Bankira, Secretary of KISS-DUCentral Alumni Association, delivered his welcome address on the Inaugural day. The Senior Functionaries of KISS-DU and students of PG, M.Phil, and Ph.D., including the alumni and research scholars, attended the program.Mr. Bankira added that forming this Central Alumni Association is to seek the involvement of Alumni under the KISS Deemed to be University to carry out various developmental activities for the overall progress of the students, research scholars, and the alumni.

Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU, in his welcome address, said that the KISS Central Alumni Association had organized the competitions with the purpose to protect the tribal language, culture, and art & painting of the tribal freedom fighters those who have sacrificed their lives for the development of the tribal community. All the competitions were organized in their language having their significance. Therefore, we have to create a situation wherein each member of the society should feel that their respective community is good and s/he will work for the development of their community. He stressed the need to establish a Tribal Museum on the KISS-DU Campus to preserve the tribal culture for the prosperity and growth of tribal cultural heritage. He further emphasized that people should follow their language. He underlined that Professors of Practice have been inducted at KISS-DU who are selected from the tribal community having no formal education but proficiency in specific domains like story-telling and having knowledge in Tribal Traditional medicine etc. The tribal musical instruments will be made available for regular practice of the students. The students of KISS-DU should feel “home away from home”. Tribal foods/ exhibitions/competitions will be organized, and participants will be rewarded.

Dr. Kanhu Charan Mahali, Chairman, Tribal Advisory Community,in his inaugural address, spoke in santal language about the competitions which are being organized by the KISS Central Alumni Association. The primary purpose is the students’ overall progress in their community knowledge. The students will learn everything about their community with the help of Professors of practice. He added that we would inspire our next generation to lay down in the mainstream with study and own community development work.

At the closing ceremony on 31st March 2022, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU, Dr. Kanhu Charan Mahali, Chairman, Tribal Advisory Council, Dr. Tripura Mishra, Vice-Principal, were present as chief guest and Mr. Sadananda Barik and Mr. Hemsing Majhi were also present as members of KISS-DU Central Alumni Association.

Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar, KISS-DU,addressed all the students of KISS-DU on occasion and said that the Alumni Association of KISS-DU is encouraged to organize such kinds of programs, and the alumni should keep in contact with the students to foster them. The closing ceremony was followed by Prize distribution where the winners received shield with certificate and all participants received their individual participation certificates.
