The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM), KISS Deemed to be University, observed the International Day of Happiness on 20 March 2026 on the theme “Caring and Sharing.” The programme aimed to promote the values and activities of NSS while highlighting the importance of happiness through selfless service.

The event commenced with a welcome address by the NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Rudrashree Ramayan Sasmal, who emphasized the significance of happiness and its close connection with service to society. The motto of NSS, “Not Me, But You,” and its core objectives were explained, highlighting the role of youth in nation-building.

Dr. Liji Panda, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, STRM the Chief Speaker, delivered an insightful session encouraging volunteers to actively engage in NSS activities. Awareness talks, interactive discussions, and motivational sessions were conducted, where volunteers also shared their experiences, inspiring others to contribute meaningfully to society.

The programme was graced by Dr. Arpana Premi Lina Oraon, the Dean of STRM, who delivered a thoughtful address on leading a happy and balanced life. It was further guided by NSS Programme Officers Dr. Jhunubala Khuntia and Dr. Hisi Soren, along with valuable inputs from the NSS Programme Coordinator on the core values of NSS.

The programme concluded with the NSS clap, with enthusiastic participation from a large number of volunteers, making the event meaningful and successful.
