Ms. Rupabati Bhue, belonging to the Sabar Tribe from Sambalpur district, was awarded a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights at KISS DU under the supervision of Dr. Pragyan Mohanty, Associate Professor and Dean. Her thesis, titled Challenges of Industry-Induced Displacement on Livelihood and Sociocultural Life of the Kutia Kandha Tribe of Odisha, was successfully defended on April 28, 2025, at 4 PM. The external examiner for her defense was Prof. Shweta Prasad from the Department of Sociology at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, while the VC nominee was Prof. N.C. Dash, Professor Emeritus at KISS DU. The RSC Member, Dr. Iswar Nayak, Assistant Professor in Sociology at Ravenshaw University, along with Director of Research Dr. Arpana Permi Lina Oraon, faculty members, and research scholars, attended the meeting. Ms. Bhue was admitted to the Ph.D. program under TLSTR in 2019 and pursued her research with the support of the NFST Scholarship. Having been a student at KISS since grade six, she has navigated a remarkable academic journey, culminating in this significant achievement.
