Project Description

The Centre is dedicated to acquiring a wider understanding and appreciation of the ideas and knowledge of the indigenous peoples and the social, economic and political realities of various indigenous nations. KISS Deemed to be University intends to accomplish it through planning research on the intellectual and cultural traditions of the indigenous peoples across the globe in different historical circumstances.

This Centre seeks to undertake research initiatives to collect primary and baseline data on the history, language, medicine, health and wellness, creative arts, literature, economy, activism, community and political dynamics, peace-building, spirituality and traditional ecological knowledge of indigenous peoples. Also, it will work out a comparativist perspective on the study of peoples and cultures across space and time.

  1. This Centre envisages the study of the methods by which certain communities preserve farming seeds for generations in the face of the fact that the modern genetically modified seeds have swamped the agriculture sector.
  2. This Centre also makes efforts to learn about the indigenous people’s methods of maintaining resilience against natural disasters
