Student Induction – Deeksharambh

A ten-day Orientation Programme is organized for the newly enrolled students at the beginning of every academic session where the senior functionaries and faculty members interact with the students, brief them about the vision and mission, rules and regulations, anti-ragging policy, different committees, use of library and infrastructure facilities, etc.

Life Skills Education – Jeevan Kaushal

KISS-DU has a uniquely designed curriculum where the core Life Skills are assimilated in the course itself and are discussed in concurring with the deliberation of the lecture. Apart from that, the university conducts regular workshops on Effective Communication Skills, Leadership Skills, Community Programmes, Soft Skills Development, Communication and Inter-Personal, Thinking Skills etc. which help and promote the employability skills of the students.

Social and Industry Connect: University Social Responsibility

KISS-DU believes in cultivating dynamic industry-academia partnerships which play a key role in ensuring the development of an innovative ecosystem, creating highly-skilled globally competent professionals. These collaborations not only enhance employability but strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the University promoting deep-rooted and enduring socio-economic impact. This plays a seminal role in building healthy social and industry connect. Enhancing employability through Capacity Building Programmes focusing on industry-specific skill sets; University-Industry Research and Development Activities; Regularly upgrading academic curriculum inclusive of industry-specific content and social development and building an entrepreneurial ecosystem in KISS-DU. In addition to the above-mentioned measures, the University organizes awareness activities on diverse issues and sensitizes the faculty and students about their social responsibilities. The special focus is on dealing with issues related to tribal society and tribal women. It also conducts philanthropic activities. The University has adopted a local village and desires to transform it into a model village.

Evaluation Reforms

Reforms in the examination and evaluation system include the implementation of Outcome Based Curriculum framework, MOOCs, internships and participation in project work for the evaluation of higher-order abilities and professional skills. Bloom’s Taxonomy is meticulously followed for assessment design. EDULEAD software designed by Sustainability Outreach Universal Leadership Limited (SOUL) is used for the tabulation of marks. KISS-DU is participating in the National Academic Bank of Credit to effectively implement student-centricity in the university. The University facilitates the transfer of credits, conducts backlog and improvement examinations, ensures proper surveillance and prevention of malpractice, checking of evaluated answer scripts by students etc.

Tracking of the Student’s Progress after Completion of Course

KISS Deemed to be University has a robust tracking system. The KISS Alumni Association (KAA) is the registered body which organizes meetings, activities and various other social and volunteering activities on a regular basis. Some of the key strategies include sending out e-mails on various occasions; dedicated district-wise WhatsApp groups have been established to ensure quick dissemination of information and correspondence; the alumni are encouraged to be active on the official social media platforms in order to catch a glimpse of the day to day activities of their alma mater and Virtual Alumni Meets are organized using Zoom Cloud Meetings and Google Meet.

The offline tracking process is conducted with the help of District Coordinators; offline Alumni Meeting is organized from time to time. Peer tracking is another important tracking technique used at KISS-DU. Since KISS-DU is a tribal university, alumni is engaged in Institution Community Projects. The phone numbers of the alumni are collected with the help of District Coordinators both at the block level and district level.

Faculty Development – Gurudakshata

The University conducts week-long Faculty Induction Programs, Training Programmes and workshops from time to time for the faculty and staff whereby they are inducted on recent trends and advancements in the field of education. The faculty members are updated on the working guidelines, research opportunities and available scopes on research and projects.

Quality Research and Creation of New Knowledge

KISS DU has developed a well-defined policy, aligning with the UGC guidelines, outlining the eligibility criteria, admission of scholars, allotment and registration processes, the conduct of research work, thesis submission standards and requirements, collaborations, research consultancy etc. The Office of Research Integrity undertakes to enforce these policies and ensures adequate familiarization of the scholars, research staff, and faculty with these policies. Besides, regular orientation sessions are conducted pertaining to various fields of research by eminent academicians of different fields. Adequate instruction and quality checking systems, enforced by the concerned supervisors, research scrutiny/ assessment committees and the research advisory council facilitates the quality checking of the thesis and enforces proper data acquisition, handling, analysis, storage, and maintenance of data privacy.

Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics (CARE)

KISS DU monitors the quality of research publications of faculty members throughout the year. The statistical analysis of all the publications is conducted bi-annually. It carries out an Annual Self-Assessment and Performance-Based Appraisal system for faculty members. Regular orientation programmes are conducted to aware all the faculty members on the CARE list of journals.

Human Values and Professional Ethics – Mulyaprava

The institute has been committed to prepare responsible and able citizens ready to face the challenges of the world. As a part of this initiative, regular classes on moral education are conducted by the university. The mentor-mentee system wherein the teachers act as real guardians of the students further strengthens and exemplifies human values and moral integrity.

Existing Innovative Infrastructure at KISS

KISS DU is spread over 100 acres of land area/ 35,00,000 square feet of built-up area. The university has made efforts to follow environmental sustainability drives in and around the campus. Energy-efficient buildings, green energy production and consumption, biodiversity, water management, waste reduction and recycling, resource conservation, healthcare, sanitation, and promoting environment-friendly transportation (vehicle free within the campus) are significant initiatives led by the university to reduce carbon footprint.

Faculty members are engaged in research and availing financial support from national and international bodies such as the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), AURORA and other international funding agencies like the United National Development Programme (UNDP), UNICEF, United Nations Population Fund (UNPF), World Bank, Asian Development Bank etc.
